WHAT IS A HAIR SYSTEM?

A hair system is created using human hair hand-woven onto a particular base of material such as lace. The base is then adhered to the individual’s head with the preferred method of attachment (tape or adhesive), and cut and blended to make it undetectable.

I DON'T WANT ANYONE TO KNOW I AM WEARING A HAIR SYSTEM. HOW WOULD I AVOID THIS?

Today’s hair systems are so technologically and artistically advanced, they are now virtually undetectable. Manufacturers can even use a base material similar to what is in a contact lens that is so light and breathable it looks as if hair is growing right out of your scalp. Hair systems are now made from the finest quality material, which mimics your own hair and hair direction. Our team then create a perfect blend and cut which allows the system to look like it is your own hair.

DOES IT MAKE YOU HEAD ITCHY?

Modern hair systems are made to be light and comfortable. The days of itchy systems are long gone. A properly fitted, well-ventilated cap will ensure that you hardly notice the hair on your head.

HOW DIFFICULT IS IT TO MAINTAIN A HAIR SYSTEM? AND CAN I STYLE IT?

Looking after a hair system is no more like looking after your own hair. The rules are virtually the same, the only difference is you need to take a little extra care with your system and ensure you have been shown how to properly maintain it.

WILL IT DAMAGE MY SCALP AND INCREASE HAIR LOSS?

Providing the hair system is kept clean and is well maintained then it will not damage your scalp or existing hair. In fact, the system will offer a level of protection against the sun and will protect sensitive scalps from the elements.

HOW EASY IS IT FOR THE HAIR SYSTEM TO FALL OFF?

A properly attached hair system will stay on your head for weeks. It will withstand all your daily activities , bathing, showering, going to the gym, swimming, dancing and walking through a gale.

CAN I HAVE DIFFERENT HAIR STYLES, HIGHLIGHTS, COLOUR AND DENSITIES?

All of our bespoke hair systems can be designed and created based on your own preferences, such as hair styles, highlights, colours or densities.

WHICH IS BETTER, TAPE OR ADHESIVE FOR ATTACHING HAIR SYSTEMS?

They both work extremely well, and it really depends on the client’s choice. Things to consider are, how oily is your scalp and of course your lifestyle. Our tapes and adhesive are medical grade and perform successfully.

WILL THE HAIR SYSTEM TAKE DYE THE SAME WAY AS GROWING HAIR?

Our hair systems will not only take dye but the colour will take to the system, 1 to 3 times faster than natural growing hair.

WILL I BE ABLE TO DRY BLOW OR STRAIGHTEN MY HAIR SYSTEM?

Your hair system will probably have a temperature limit but providing you take care and keep within this limit you can style your hair with heated appliances in the same way you would with real hair.

HOW OFTEN ARE APPOINTMENTS TO MAINTAIN MY HAIR SYSTEM?

You can come back to the hair clinic between every 3-4 weeks to have the system taken off, the glue taken off, the new hair that’s grown underneath re-shaved and then have the hair system re-applied.

What tends to happen is the hair growing out on the widest part of the head. So you have the system that obviously doesn’t grow and this hair grows underneath it. This is the part that you need to have cut regularly. And that is around every 3 to 4 weeks.

IS IT NECESSARY TO SHAVE MY HEAD IN ORDER TO WEAR A HAIR SYSTEM?

Generally speaking, yes it is, hair systems can conceal receding hairlines very well. It is very important that our hair pieces are firmly attached. This requires a certain surface area, which is why our hair systems cover not only the receding hairline, but the entire front and maybe also the top of the head. For this reason, we analyse our customers’ individual hair situation and suggest an appropriate solution.

HOW OFTEN DO I HAVE TO REPLACE MY HAIR SYSTEM?

A well maintained and looked after hair system should last between 6-9months, we have clients who follow the maintenance advise and they still have their system 12 months later. It all depends on how well you look after your hair system.

WHAT CAN AND CAN'T I DO WHILST WEARING A HAIR SYSTEM?

Whatever you do with your normal hair you can do with your hair system too. You can shower, swim, drive a convertible or go sky diving, your hair won’t hold you back

WHAT HAIR STYLES CAN I HAVE?

You can have almost any hairstyle you want. You can wear your hair long or short, comb it back or wear it spiky. I HAVE SENSITIVE SKIN. DO I HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT ALLERGIC REACTIONS WHEN I WEAR A HAIR SYSTEM?

All the materials we use conform to surgical standards and have been used by medical professionals for years without causing any allergic reactions. Our materials have also been dermatologically tested and proven to be completely safe. You would be patch tested before

DOES THE HAIR SYSTEM STAY ON MY HEAD ALL THE TIME?

Yes. The hair system is only removed during your next appointment at the clinic, just before you get your new hair system. You can shower in it, exercise in it, do everything as you normally would.

CAN I GO SWIMMING WITH A HAIR SYSTEM?

Yes, the hair system stays in place when going swimming or diving if a water-resistant adhesive is used. You can go swimming in the sea as well as in a swimming pool if the hair piece is attached appropriately. When being outdoors, it is important to protect your hair replacement from UV damage – e.g. by means of hair protector.

CAN A HAIR SYSTEM WITHSTAND A LOT OF SWEATING ETC DURING SPORTS?

Our hair systems stand up to situations that make you sweat. To ensure that your hair system meets all your requirements, we discuss aspects like your profession and lifestyle during the consultation. If you perspire a lot, you need breathable materials, a more robust base is preferable if your daily routine is very demanding. We suggest solutions to our customers which suit them and their life.
